Biography
Principal Member Karmen M. (Kater) Slezak received her B.A. in International Relations from Scripps College in Claremont, California in 1986, and her Juris Doctor Degree in 1991 from the University of Baltimore School of Law. As former trial counsel for a major insurance company, she has significant trial experience with both District Court bench trials and Circuit Court jury trials. Ms. Slezak has successfully completed study at the Maryland Trial Advocacy Institute, has completed the Maryland State Bar Association 40 hour Mediation Training, and has also participated in numerous professional development seminars.
The Baltimore County (and previously Harford County) resident first joined the firm in 2003 as an Associate, and in April 2010 became a Partner. Ms. Slezak is a member of the American Bar Association, the Maryland State Bar Association, the Baltimore County Bar Association, and the Maryland Association for Justice (MAJ), including the Legislative Leaders Circle of the MAJ, and she is a member in good standing of the Maryland Court of Appeals and the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.
Ms. Slezak presently concentrates in the areas of civil and automobile tort litigation; she has in the past handled criminal law, traffic and bankruptcy cases.
In her life outside of law, Ms. Slezak is active in her community. She is a graduate of the Harford Leadership Academy. She enjoys working out at the gym, bicycling, running and is active in many community organizations, including past membership with the Bel Air Rotary Club (for 10 years) and current membership with the Middle River Rotary Club where she holds the position of Chairperson for the Scholarship Committee and President-Elect (2016-2017).

She continues to litigate civil cases before judges and juries.
